As we enter the second half of the year, there is surely no shortage of movies coming out , and there will be even more in 2023. We have never been more excited after a ton of new trailers and first glimpses for everything from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to Black Adam debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.
Not only superheroes, though; this autumn sees the release of Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans, Olivia Wilde’s interesting drama Don’t Worry Darling, and the horror sequel Halloween Ends.There are many impending superhero movies, so if you want more information, make sure to read our guide to all the upcoming Marvel films. Don’t Worry Darling

A psychological thriller set in the 1950s is called Don’t Worry Darling. Florence Pugh plays Alice, a miserable housewife, and Harry Styles plays Jack, her husband, who is keeping a terrible secret. Halloween Ends

Jamie Lee Curtis comments to Total Film on playing Laurie Strode once more in the third and final installment of the rebooted Halloween trilogy: “I would say, given what I know about the next movie, I think it will be the last time that I play her.” “Furthermore, I’m not saying, “Oh, because I die!” There is no connection there at all. I’m referring to the emotional framework they have created. It will, in my opinion, be a magnificent way to wrap out this trilogy.”
While filmmaker David Gordon Green says that Halloween Ends would be a departure from previous installments, producer Malek Akkad suggests that “the last one is going to be considerably more controlled.””I engage people by acting in a unique way. I would give the helm to someone else if I was only going to repeat myself. It’s a lot of fun to consider new ways to express yourself and grow when you have the chance to do so inside a well-known franchise “Green claims.
To put it another way, be ready for a bloody good time and a major conclusion for the characters we have grown to know and love over the past few decades. Hopefully Green can give Laurie Strode the send-off she deserves.
Black Adam
Release date: October 21, 2022
It’s almost remarkable that Dwayne Johnson has never played a comic book superhero before given his massive stature and larger-than-life demeanor. But as Black Adam enters the DC Universe to upend the existing power structure, everything is about to change.
Black Adam, also known as Teth-Adam, has been Johnson’s passion project for more than ten years, even if the figure may not be well-known (yet). One of the most potent characters in DC Comics is the antihero. Adam, a Kahndaq slave who was given superpowers by the wizard Shazam, started out on a dark road of revenge against those who had mistreated him, seeking to settle the score by any means possible.
The persona is described by Johnson as “a horrible motherf*cker.” And that’s what made him decide to wait 10 years to play him, despite having multiple opportunities to play superheroes in the interim.
“There were no formally submitted ideas. There were frequent conversations with studio executives “To Total Film, he says. “But Black Adam had possessed a unique characteristic all along. He was either an antihero or a villain, depending on your definition of a villain. I liked the idea that his rage and agony were brought on by loss and fueled by oppression. Finally, he developed a resistance to being confined. If you hurt him, his family, or his people, you will die. Period. Really, it’s that simple.”
There is no doubt that Black Adam will rock the DC Extended Universe to its very core. Following Jungle Cruise, Johnson comments on working with director Jaume Collet-Serra again as follows: “We connected right away because we were all like, “OK, our aim and our North Star is the DC Universe’s power structure is going to alter.” Let’s be brave. So let’s get started. Let’s be destructive as well.”
The Justice Society of America and the antihero square off in a new teaser that made its debut at SDCC. He claims that his abilities are a curse that was “created out of wrath,” not a gift. Then, as Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate cautions him, we watch Black Adam in action as he attempts to save the Earth.
Amsterdam
Release date: November 4, 2022
Amsterdam will be the first film David O. Russell has directed since Joy in 2015. It centers on three friends who are the main suspects in a 1930s murder: a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney (Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington). Robert De Niro, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek, Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, and Mike Myers round out the remainder of the ensemble cast’s impressive list of actors.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Release date: November 11, 2022
The difficult task for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler was figuring out how to develop a sequel after Chadwick Boseman passed away. Production and development vice president Nate Moore recently provided clarification in support of remarks made by Kevin Feige, saying, “At no time did we contemplate recasting, as difficult as it is narratively to figure out what to do, because that’s a large void.
Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, and Martin Freeman, who are all returning, will excel in the role. New additions to the cast include Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, who will soon be the showrunner of Disney Plus’ Ironheart, Michaela Coel as Aneka, a former leader of the Dora Milaje, and Tenoch Huerta as Namor, the undersea tyrant.
The first trailer for the film, which debuted at SDCC, also features a new Black Panther. There are rumors that T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Wright) or undercover snoop Nakia (N’yongo) may be the culprit, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure.
Regardless of how things turn out, Duke (M’Baku) calls the filmmaking process “emotional”: Now that we are all grieving together and have become somewhat of a family, we are creating something very unique. So, fit for a king.
The Fabelmans

Steven Spielberg has repeatedly highlighted his experiences growing up in Arizona as a key source of inspiration for his work, and The Fabelmans is his first thorough investigation of those years on screen. With the premiere of this picture, Spielberg will also compose the screenplay for his movie for the first time since 2001.
While Michelle Williams and Paul Dano are portraying roles based on Steven Spielberg’s parents, Seth Rogen is playing a character based on the director’s favorite uncle. The story follows Sammy Fabelman as he discovers a terrible family secret from the time he is seven years old until he is eighteen.

Despite the extremely lengthy wait—Avatar debuted in 2009 and broke movie office records—the sequel is almost here. What, then, took so long? Producer Jon Landau claims that drafting not one, but four scripts for the anticipated succession of sequels leading up to Avatar 5 was a major contributing factor.
The screenplays serve as our guide, according to Landau, speaking to Total Film. Since each of those four screenplays had to separately resolve itself in a plot that culminates with a strong emotional ending, writing took up a significant chunk of our time. Shazam! Fury of the Gods

The Zachary Levi-starring film Shazam! is returning! Gods’ wrath. The superhero character of Billy Batson (Asher Angel) will face off against the Atlas family’s daughters. Shazam 2 director David F. Sandberg has said that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson won’t be playing Black Adam in this movie, despite the fact that Billy Batson and Black Adam are enemies in the DC Comics. The sequel, which was originally planned to appear in 2023, has overtaken Aquaman 2’s position on the release timetable (which has in turn been delayed until 2023).
The enemies of the sequel are introduced in a new teaser that aired at SDCC. Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler, who are portraying the daughters of the Titan Atlas, must battle Billy and company with abilities unlike anything they have ever experienced.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

The terrible Kang the Conqueror (played by Jonathan Majors) awaits Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, in this sequel, while MODOK is also slated to make an appearance. But there are also enemies, with Evangeline Lilly reprising her role as Hope, Michael Douglas playing Dr. Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer playing Janet Van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton joining the ensemble as Cassie, Scott’s daughter.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is directed by James Wan once more. Regardless of the fact that The Conjuring director’s standalone Black Manta film project, which was slated to be released as a monster spin-off called The Trench, was scrapped: In the follow-up to the 2018 smash blockbuster, which had more legs with ticket purchasers than an octopus on drums, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s David Kane/Manta continues to seek revenge on Aquaman. Jason Momoa returns to the action alongside Dolph Lundgren, Patrick Wilson, and Amber Heard, this time donning a darker, bluer “stealth” costume inspired by the camouflage techniques of cephalopods.
Producer Peter Safran reiterates the series’ belief in overindulgence, saying, “We have cranked the dials up to 11.” Director James Wan promises “a movie that’s more mature [than Aquaman] but yet still keeps its pleasure.” In addition to Safran’s tribute to Spinal Tap, Wan makes parallels to horror films by promising both genre aspects and nodding to Mario Bava’s stunning, pre-Alien 1965 stunner Planet of the Vampires.
Along with a monster or ten, Necrus, a forgotten undersea country, may also be involved. The concept art discovered for FanDome includes images of Curry riding a seahorse, toothy oceanic tentacles, and sand animals.But it wasn’t all good sailing for Momoa: During the strenuous filming, he complained on The Ellen Show, “I’m just getting pounded up.” It seems like DC isn’t holding back with this.
John Wick 4
Release date: March 24, 2023
The epidemic and Reeves’ commitment to The Matrix Resurrections both caused delays, but in June 2021, production on the fourth John Wick film eventually got underway. According to rumors, the film will be called John Wick 4: Hagakure, which is also the name of a novel written by the warrior Yamamoto Tsunetomo. The phrase “the road of the warrior is death” is renowned from the book “A Warrior’s Guide,” which translates to “hidden by the leaves.”

Don’t anticipate a cheerful conclusion; instead, prepare for thrills, (blood) spills, and several killings.
At San Diego Comic-Con, the first action-packed teaser trailer for the film was unveiled, asking, “Have you given any consideration to where this ends?”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The Guardians’ journey is coming to an end; according to director James Gunn, this is the final time we’ll witness this eclectic group battle galactic villains. Whichever horrors they encounter this time will be played by Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji, star of Peacemaker, as the High Evolutionary. In addition, it goes without saying that Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillian, Pom Klementeiff, and Vin Diesel will all be back.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part One
Release date: June 2, 2023
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is perhaps the best Spider-Man movie to date. Since the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse – Part One, is just the first installment in a longer story, there is a lot of anticipation for it. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film’s producers and screenwriters, called Miles’ story “an epic.” “After putting down what we thought the story should be, we were shocked to learn that there were actually two movies instead of just one. On each of these, work is currently being done. Part Two will be made available in 2023. We will sleep once again in 2024.”
Miles Morales will once again be voiced by Shameik Moore, while Spider-Gwen will once again be played by Hailee Steinfeld. In order to take on the villain The Spot, Miles is working with Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Spider-Man 2099. It is unknown if Kimiko Glenn’s Peni Parker, Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man Noir, and John Mulaney’s Spider-Ham will make a comeback. When questioned, Lord and Miller said, “Miles will meet… a lot of new friends and reunite with some old ones.
The Flash
Release date: June 23, 2023
Want more Batman after watching The Batman? Then welcome The Flash, which is finally here under Andy Muschietti’s direction. Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, two past Bat-leads, will appear despite George Clooney’s denial of any participation. Though the legendary actor did admit that wearing the cape again after around 30 years felt “shockingly normal” for him, Keaton’s storyline role is still under-developed.
What you will see in Flash is going to be a really profound, emotional narrative, but it’s also going to be incredibly humorous and a huge epic journey, Muschietti teases goosebumps among a multiverse of tones.and at times, terrifying. Muschietti is the ideal candidate for that tonal festival, said the scriptwriter of the film. He can change quickly from amusing to menacing to emotional, according to Christina Hodson, whose story about time travel, the murder of Barry Allen’s mother, and the birth of DC’s multiverse was inspired by the Flashpoint storyline.
The adversary of the film is likewise a mystery; at a DC FanDome event, Scarlet Speedster Ezra Miller hinted that there may be many, none, or something more cryptic at work. Miller noted that a villain’s ability to remain mysterious “until they POP OUT!,” is helpful.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Yes, there have already been six of these high-octane blockbusters, and there is a compelling reason why the series will continue. Tom Cruise was made to perform life-threatening stunts, and this series is jam-packed with them. Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff, who are newbies to the series, are with him this time, and Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett all return in their roles from the previous films. A sequel, tentatively named Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, is already scheduled for 2024, and Christopher McQuarrie is back in the director’s chair.
The Marvels
Release date: July 28, 2023
The Marvels, also known as Captain Marvel 2, will see Brie Larson’s superhero return with Ms. Marvel (as hinted at by the Ms. Marvel post-credits sequence), Monica Rambeau (WandaVision), who plays the superhero Photon, and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel. Zawe Ashton has been cast as the movie’s villain while Candyman helmer Nia DaCosta is in the director’s chair.
Blade
Release date: November 3, 2023
Following a spoken appearance in the Eternals post-credits sequence, Mahershala Ali plays the vampire-hunting antihero in Blade. The cast also includes Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre from The Underground Railroad, and Mogul Mowgli filmmaker Bassam Tariq is at the helm. The screenplay is being written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour, who previously worked on HBO’s Watchmen series.
